Two office workers, finding a disabled stranger, carried her down sixty-eight floors to safety."

Why do stories of self-sacrifice arrest the attention of the human heart? Why do cultures around the world hold those who self-sacrifice for others in high esteem? Dinner With Jesus Part Six - Saving You a Seat

I sat on the couch after a long day and clicked the power button on the TV remote. Nothing happened. Knowing that the batteries sometimes fall out of the remote due to kids tossing it around, I checked the batteries. They were there... So I surmised that the batteries must be dead. So I searched the house for fresh AA's, found them, plopped back down on the couch and loaded them into the remote. I boldly pointed it at the TV pressing the power button... and... I still got nothing. I don't know... maybe God just wanted me to got to bed... anyone else ever wonder that?

 

Well after a little investigating it turned out that the TV had been accidentally unplugged. And when the TV is not connected to power, it doesn't matter how hard you press the buttons, its just isn't going to work.

 

Life is also like that. Jesus said, "I am the vine; you are the branches." Apart from him we lose the power to thrive in life. In this podcast we will unpack Jesus' "vine and branches" metaphor in a way that is sure to inspire, encourage and help you re-connect to the life-giving vine that is Jesus Christ.

I once read an article that told the story of Muslims in Oslo, Norway. The article reads: "(They) applied for the right to call worshipers to prayers, calling 'Allahu akbar' ('God is great') over loudspeakers. The neighborhood council granted the request, to the delight of the World Islamic Mission. A spokesman said the decision is a 'victory of great symbolic importance. It means our religion is respected on the same lines as other religions.' But to keep things completely equal, the council also approved a request by The Norwegian Heather Society to summon members to their meeting by calling out 'There is no God' over the loudspeakers."

Recognize that classic and fun song from 1988? It may bring back some good memories, and it's definitely fun too sing. But is it actually helpful?
