1. From the earliest times humans have worshipped stars. Psalm 139:7-12, Exodus 20:18-19, Psalm 19:1 - Human nature is to create high (mysterious and talented) priests in high (mysterious and lofty) places and self-submit to them. 2. Isolated human stars are destructive to the Church. Matthew 16:13-20, John 3:30 - When the church becomes a show, we look for a star showman. - Christian "stars" are ultimately destructive to the church because Jesus is the only star of the church. - Leaders that focus on natural ability and platform, who desire fame, will replicate followers who seek the same. 3. At Arise, we will create a galaxy, by cultivating stars. Revelation 1:16,20, Matthew 13:1-9, 18-23 - It's time to reestablish the priesthood of all believers. • Arise will be the soil that allows others to shine - We want people to say "Those people at ARISE are amazing", not "that pastor at ARISE is amazing. Reflection Question: What was your testimony in this "State of the Church Address'? Do you believe the church has a "star" problem? Why or why not? Are you ready to experience the fullness of what God has called you to become?
